Roots and Branches

Peeking out at us from the above picture is a young Edward Cabell and Polly Ann Osteen Summerlin. An interesting fact about E. C. is that his family moved from Middleburg, FL, when he was still a young boy, to mine for salt in New Smyrna. And as a young man, E.C. and Polly Ann moved to St. Lucie and ended up farming pineapples. We can all say we have an interesting history to our Summerlin family and this is just one of many stories we’ve learnt about our ancestors. From cattle ranchers to farmers to fishermen, teachers to politicians to bridge tenders, hunters, riverboat captains, and nere-do-wells; the list reads on like a who’s who of occupations and there’s pretty much a story behind each one. With such a rich past to the Summerlin family, we hope for an amazing future.

Rejoice with your family in the beautiful land of life.

Telling the Stories

Telling the stories and reliving some of the history anchors us and provides direction for the future. Under the All Things Family page, and if you follow the posts under Connected By Our Roots, this should help you learn more about our Summerlin family history. Current events can be found under the Day to Day Happenings drop-down, along with updates on what we’re doing to make our 2023 Summerlin Family Reunion a special one to attend. And if you’re looking to find some of the delicious recipes from our grands and great grands and our contemporaries too, you’ll find those under the Favorite Recipes drop-down from All Things Family.

Staying up-to-date

So visit here from time to time. We’ll try to make it enjoyable reading. This should give us a chance to have a year-long online reunion leading up to our in-person one on May 28, 2023! And please reach out via the Contact Us page or add a comment from time to time.
